Thank you for visiting the web page of the USS Crockett. We would like to extend an invitation to you to join us at one of our monthly meetings to see who we are and how we operate. We currently meet every second Saturday of the month, at the “Summer Moon Coffee Bar & Café”, which is inside the YMCA located at 3233 North St, Mary's, just off US 281 - South. Meetings start at 3pm and usually last about an hour, UNLESS, we really get into some serious fan conversations.

We are affiliated with and are members of Starfleet International, Inc., a world-wide Star Trek Fan organization. Anyone is welcome to join us and share our enjoyment of Star Trek, science and science Fiction in general. Our membership consists of family members of all ages, with our youngest three still being in diapers. There is no requirement to become a Starfleet member, but we do ask that if you are not at least 18 years old, that you have your parent's or legal guardian's written permission to be able to join and participate in any Club activities, as we do trek outside of the San Antonio area for events from time to time.

The USS Crockett is one of three, non-profit / charitable Star Trek Fan Clubs in the greater San Antonio Area that hold monthly meetings and we are one of several Chapters in Region 3 of SFI. We endeavor to promote and follow the ideals of the Star Trek Universe as they were envisioned in 1966 by Gene Roddenberry when he created the TV show for NBC.

The USS CROCKETT is a community service based organization, who volunteers to participate with various charitable organizations in their fund raising events throughout the year, in and around the San Antonio metropolitan area. Some of the local charities our club participates in are the Elf Louise Project (annually), The San Antonio Food Bank, The American Diabetes Association and most recently The St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. We also support various other charities on a rotating basis, which is chosen by the members yearly.

We were founded in September of 2011, by a small group of Star Fleet members, who had a deep dedication to and a love of Star Trek. Our first organizational meeting was in October of 2011, where we decided, moving forward, we wanted to become a Starfleet International chapter. In our November 2011 meeting, we decided on the Ship’s name – USS Crockett (in honor of Davy Crockett, one of the heroes of the Battle for the Alamo), the ship class – Nichter Dreadnought Class (the first of its class in Region 3) and the ship’s motto – “Dread Nought On Us”, a spin on the motto, “Thread Not On Us”. During this meeting we also placed into nomination, and voted on the names for the first officers of the new chapter.

During the January 2012 meeting, the newly elected Captain and XO (Executive Officer) took command. We also entered into the Starfleet Shuttle Program under the guidance of the USS Ark Angel Station and was then assigned our designation number, NCC-21040. After completing the Shuttle Program, we were commissioned on 17 November, 2012 with a crew compliment of 14 and we’ve been going strong ever since.

                                                                                                WHAT WE DO

Our club activities are usually on weekends, ranging from local, State and Regional fan conventions of all genres, to various fund raising activities, annual celebratory parties, as well as assisting with movie premieres and holding game nights. In previous year the birthday of Davy Crockett with the placing of a wreath at the Alamo.

We aren’t always a serious “Star Trek Business” only Club, as with many other Chapters, we have a Christmas Party every year in conjunction with our December meeting. We’ll do a short meeting, followed by a Pot Luck dinner and then comes the “Ferengi Gift Exchange”, which turns into fun for all. Just don’t forget the “Rules of Acquisition”.

Thanks to our resident AV person, we will hold a “Club Movie night” on a huge screen, set up in his back yard. On previous movie nights, we have watched “Star Trek”, “Star Trek: Beyond” and such oldies as the original version of “The Day the Earth Stood Still”. Break out the popcorn.

Also, from time to time, to break up the boredom of “Just another meeting”, and taking advantage of the good South Central Texas weather, we’ll also have a Picnic / Meeting in one of the local parks.

If you would like more information on the club, such as any last minute changes in the meeting schedule, please email us at usscrockett@gmail.com and you can also follow and like our page on Facebook at USS Crockett NCC-21040.
